Newport News- Ernest E. Lee, widower of Lucille C. Lee and a native of Buckingham County, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, September 27, 2011.
Mr. Lee was a member of First Baptist Church East End where he served on the Golden Key Ministry. He was a retiree of the C&O Railroad Company, a member of the Widow Sons Lodge # 54, a dedicated member of the East End Neighborhood Association Crime Watch and an avid walker at the Huntington track. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Mr. Lee is survived by his daughters, Shirley Jones, Armeke Smith (Otis), Devita Barber (Ben) and Letress Wooden (Jimmy); sons, Ernest Lee and Tyrone Lee (Donzella); nine grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends.

A Homegoing Service will be held 11a.m., Friday, September 30, 2011 at First Baptist Church East End. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will begin at 1p.m., followed by visitation with the family from 6 to 7p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Lee will lie in state two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to honor the memory of our loved one may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church East End, 3000 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607. The staff of O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
