On Sunday, June 12, 2022, Albert T. Guy left his earthly home for a new home in Glory.  Albert Guy was born on February 7, 1936 in New Bern, North Carolina to Sylvester and Ethel Guy.  He relocated to Newport News during his middle school years to live with his older sister.  Early on he received Christ as his Lord and Savior and he joined First Baptist Church East End in 1951.  He graduated from Carver High School with the class of 1956.  He later met the love of his life, Bettie Perkins, and they were joined in holy matrimony on October 13, 1962.  To this union they were blessed with one child.

He retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years of dedicated service and his last job was as a Mechanic Supervisor.  He also retired from the US Army Reserves after 30 years of service.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Guy and Charles Guy; two sisters, Melissa Hunt and Grace Wilkerson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 59 years, Bettie Guy; daughter, Patsy Sheppard (Lorenzo); sister, Almeda Head (Al); grandchildren, Lauren Sheppard and Lorenzo Sheppard (Stephanie); three great grandchildren, Landen, Londynn and Skylar; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; two special friends, Leon Brown and James Green.  He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

The Homegoing Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2022 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Viewing will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  CDC guidelines will be observed at the funeral home.
