Ann Marie Deloatch-Curry was born in Margarettsville, NC on August 27, 1946 to the late Moses and Annie Deloatch.

She was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Bullocks. She was a member of Livingstone Baptist Church, (leadership Rev. Milliton). She worked at Cabs Nursing Home as an Assistance Activity Director. She attended North Hampton Public Schools. She started school at the age of 6 at Mark Herrin Elementary School in Severn, NC. She graduated from Willis Hare High School in Penton, NC. Ann pursued a higher education and graduated from Thomas Nelson Community College with a C.N.A Degree in nursing. She worked in private duty nursing her last few years of work. She finally retired in the year of 2015. She also worked as a Key Puncher for Con Edison Electrical Company.

Ann married the late June Curry, Jr. on August 28, 1971. To this union two sons and one daughter were born, Carlton, Desmond J.C. and Shanequa Latoya Curry. Sadly, her oldest son, Carlton Curry preceded her in death on April 14, 1990. Ann devoted her love and grace to her daughter and her grandson, Jeremiah Cody who she loved deeply.

Ann enjoyed doing a lot of things in her life. Her favorite things to do were cooking, gardening, listening to music, arts and crafts, and entertaining family and friends. She loved anyone that came her way. She had the most giving heart and loved hard. Ann grew up on a farm. This upbringing stuck with her throughout her years. She had a beautiful garden and flower beds. Gardening was her favorite hobby that she loved to do. Even when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she did not let her diagnosis stop her. She would still be found outside plowing her garden and planting her flowers. Ann Curry was a fighter. She fought until her last breath. I know everyone has their own special memory of her. Take that with you. She wouldn't want anyone sad. Her energy was fun, loving, and caring. She loved to dance and enjoy life. She enjoyed her life to the fullest.

On January 6, 2019, she finally got to go back to New York after 20+ yrs. She had the time of her life celebrating with her family. She always said she wanted to go back. I am happy that she was able to accomplish that goal before she left this earth. So, she did everything that she wanted in this life. Now it is time for her to enjoy her new life with no more pain and worry. She is at peace and she would want us to be at peace and happy as well.

Ann leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Desmond and Shanequa Curry of Hampton, VA; her grandson, Jeremiah Cody of Hampton, VA; three loving sisters, Cora Rodgers of Brooklyn NY, Dozene DeLoatch and Annie Mae Tensley-Day of Hampton, VA; and her loving friend for over 10+ years, Lanier Westbrook, Jr of Hampton VA. They had the most unconditional love that could not be broken. Additionally, she leaves behind her best friend, Jean Wright of Hampton, VA. Ann took care of Jean's grandmother, mother and father for years. The Wrights became family and Ann was no longer a co-worker. The love from this family to her was undeniable. Ann also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved dearly.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Greater Bethlehem Christian Assembly, 360 Ivy Home Road, Hampton, VA 23669. Viewing will be from 3-6 pm, Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
