Obituary

Annie Lee Perrin

January 31, 1932 – September 14, 2026

Annie Lee Perrin passed away on September 14, 2026, at Riverside Medical Center. Born in Danville, Virginia, to the late John and Ellen Jones, Annie attended school there before moving to Newport News in 1952. She built her life there through her work in domestic service and the home she made for herself and those she loved.

Annie was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Perrin. She was outgoing, funny and deeply caring, with a personality that filled every room she entered. Annie was honest and direct—the kind of person who made sure you always knew where you stood. With her, what you saw was what you got and that sincerity was part of what made her so special. Her laughter, warmth and unmistakable spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Annie cherished her family, and she especially enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren. Those journeys gave her precious time to share her joy, her stories and her love with them. She leaves behind her loving children, Barbara Anne Tibbs (Larry), Donzella Lee and Ellen Jones; her grandchildren, Yvette Campbell (Rodney), Michelle Dennis, Jimmy Carlos Jones, Omar Biggs, Nikitia Davis, Tiffany Jones-Smith (Alonzo) and Deshonna Lee; and a host of loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, additional family and friends. She also leaves her special friend, Marquitte, along with many dear friends and caring people who were there to lend a helping hand.

Annie shared a special bond with her grandson, Tyrone Lee Jr., affectionately known as LT. LT was more than her grandson—he was her right hand, her helper and a constant source of love and support. Annie loved LT dearly and the place he held in her heart was truly irreplaceable.

In addition to her parents and husband, Annie was preceded in death by her daughter, Deloris Jones; her grandsons, John Ashley Tibbs and Tyrone Lee Jr. (LT); her son-in-law, Tyrone Lee; three brothers; and two sisters.

Annie’s legacy lives on through the family she loved so dearly and the many people whose lives she touched.

When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little – but not for long. And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that once we shared. Miss me, but let me go.
