Obituary

Arlean Amatha White was born on July 12, 1944, in Peterburg, Virginia to the late Aladdin and Hadassah Parham. She enjoyed 50 loving years of marriage to David White Jr. She was the mother of 2 daughters, Darlene and Melody, and 1 son, David White III, as well as a foster parent to numerous children.  Arlean was a visionary in interior design and enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, traveling, music, sewing, and cooking. She was a member of Christian Union Baptist Church and the Dochiki Wives Auxiliary, Inc. establishing many lifelong friendships.

Arlean attended Huntington High School and obtained her GED. She had a passion for business ownership and founded Flea-Flicka record shop before returning to work at White's Grocery. She had a wonderful sense of humor and is often quoted among her family.

She peacefully departed this life on January 12, 2025, at her home. She was proceeded in death by her son David White III; daughter Melody White; siblings, Edna N. Faggins, Alice D. Daniels (Melvin), Ida Mae Parham, Lenorris Henderson (Ben), Doris P. Murray, Sylvester Parham, George Parham, and Gabriel Parham.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband David White Jr; daughter Darlene Sanford (James); sister Joanne Parham; brother-in-law Walter Murray; grandchildren Brittani Fenton (Peter) and Briana Sanford; great-granddaughter Jordan Fenton; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service  will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Viewing for Mrs. Arlean White will be on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.  at the funeral home.
