Arthur Dean Arrington, departed this life on July 29, 2022.  He was the son of James C. and Shirley I. Spratley-Arrington,  and was the oldest son of four boys born in Hampton, Virginia. James C. and Shirley, and their four boys moved in the original Arrington family home with his father, mother and sister in Aberdeen Gardens Historic District neighborhood for a few years before moving to Newport News for a short time. After 1961, James and Shirley and the four boys moved to Newark, New Jersey where Shirley's mother Irene Spratley relatives lived. They moved and lived near her mother, Irene Spratley's, sisters, there daughters, cousins, aunts, sons, and nieces.  John Spratley, Shirley's father's funeral and burial was held in Hampton years earlier.

Arthur attended and graduated from East Orange H.S. June 20, 1974. In November 8, 1975, Arthur married Arether Perry and from this union Brandi Renee was born. Brandi was his pride and joy and he traded his time with friends just so he could spend precious time with his daughter.  He joined the U.S. Army June 1974 as an Armor Crewman and was stationed in Italy, Mainz, Germany from 1975-1977 and Fort Lewis, Washington from 1977-1980 and was honorably discharged. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge .45 Pistols and Marksman Badge M-16 Rifle during his tour of service. Brandi has two beautiful daughters, Brianna--- and Dayna-- who are young entrepreneurs.

In 1980, Arthur returning home to East Orange became manager of Gino's Restaurant. He loved managing and went on to manage such establishments such as Church's Chicken and Roy Rogers Restaurants. Arthur had a special gift when it came to performing duties in any capacity, he found himself in. He possessed a photographic memory, "show him once and he could train anyone."

Arthur spent two years in a religious retreat in New York. He communed and had fellowship with monks. He gained a close relationship with the LORD and read and learned the WORD. Arthur accepted the LORD in 1985.

He joined First Baptist Church East End, and became an Ordained Deacon under the late Rev. Woodrow Brown Jr.  He taught Sunday School, Aided the homeless with food and clothes donations; Counseled drug abusers and homeless persons living on the streets. Donated clothes to shelters; purchased food and gave to families and the homeless throughout Newport News and Hampton.  During the Pandemic: He enjoyed watching various Ministries on TV. He did not like zooming.  Later, he visited various Churches in the Hampton and Newport News areas as well as those he was invited to.

1997 He moved to Hampton and became a Taxicab driver. Eventually, he became the owner of Arte De's Taxi and was very successfully securing a VAMC contract. Business strategies changed after a few years and the industry venture into a different line of transport.

On August 11, 2002------, he married Beverly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael M. Arrington

He leaves his wife, Beverly Arrington; daughter, Brandi Arrington and her Fiancé, Izeak Wilson; stepson, Rashaad Clark; brothers, Victor C. Arrington, Marvin L. Arrington (Portia); aunt, Rev. Jacqueline Arrington; granddaughters,  Bri-Anna Arrington and Dayna Harrington; stepdaughter, Brittany Humphrey; Mother-in-law,  Mattie West; Several step grandchildren, brothers & sisters-in-law; as well as Spratley and West relatives; and numerous neighbors and friends.
