Arthur Dunbar was born in Byronville, Georgia.  He is the oldest of nine children born to the late Alfred and Elder Rosie Lee Dunbar and raised in Brooklyn, New York where he attended New York City Public Schools.

Arthur joined the Pentecostal House of Prayer for All People Inc. in Brooklyn, NY in April 1962 under the leadership of the late Bishop J. O. Felix.  Arthur accepted the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in July 1962.  On September 22, 1962, Arthur married the love of his life, Nancy.

He started his journey into ministry as an usher until he was later selected to the office of Deacon, where he served diligently and faithfully until he was called and ordained to ministry in 1970. In 1970 was also when Arthur began working for the New York City Transit Authority until he retired.

Arthur's first position as an ordained minister was serving as an Associate Minister.  Eight years later he was ordained to the office of Elder.  Throughout his time in ministry Elder Dunbar attended the Manhattan Bible Institute under the leadership of Dr. Edward Boyce.

As part of his duties as a servant in the Pentecostal House of Prayer (P.H.P) under the leadership of the late Bishop Leathiean Walton and Bishop Nathaniel Day, Elder Dunbar held several jobs including several years as the President of the P.H.P Adult Choir, P.H.P Young People's Pastor, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Field Representative, Chairman of the Annual Men's Day Celebration, and Presiding Speaker for numerous church revivals and services.

In 1991, Elder Dunbar relocated to Hampton, Virginia, where he continued in ministry at New Bethel Cathedral C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of Pastor Melvin L. Austin.  Elder Dunbar later served as the Senior Elder at the Mt. Gilead Pentecostal Holiness Church, under the leadership of Bishop N. B. Jenkins in Norfolk, Virginia.

In May 2009 Elder Dunbar was installed as Pastor of The First Church of Love and Deliverance located in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Our beloved Pastor Arthur Dunbar leaves to cherish his memories; his devoted wife Mother Nancy Dunbar, his sisters: Margaret Johnson, Lucille Simpkins (Bobby), and Alfreda Arrodondo (Aaron), his children: James, David, Jamal (Latosha), Jerome, and Elijah, his 9 grandchildren, his 13 great-grandchildren, godchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2023 at The Hope Center.  Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
