Aubrey Don Herbin was born on May 5, 1938 in Newport News, Virginia to the late James Lester and Mary Ossie Herbin.  This valiant soldier answered the call to serve in God's heavenly ranks on Friday, March 26, 2021.

Aubrey was raised in the East End section of Newport News, Virginia and received his education in the Newport News Public School System.  Aubrey attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School and graduated from Huntington High School in the "Class of 1957."  He was the kicker on the "Mighty Vikings" football team. Aubrey furthered his education through online college courses earning his Associate Degree in Administration. In his early years, Aubrey was associated with the Jehovah Witness.

Aubrey believed in hard work. Immediately after he graduated from Huntington High School, he began working at the Newport News Shipyard and Dry Dock Company (currently known as Huntington Ingalls).  Aubrey worked there for over 32 years, retiring from the Foundry as a General Foreman. He loved playing baseball and played for the Newport News Shipyard baseball team known as the 'Riggers.' Aubrey was a sports enthusiast at heart. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team.  His hobbies included CB Radio, working on cars, beautifying his lawn; he especially enjoyed watching westerns and listening to music. His favorite genres were Jazz and Rhythm & Blues.

He was predeceased by his brother, James "Jimmy" Herbin; and seven sisters, Stella and Luvenia Herbin, Melaine Francis, Beulah Schwing, Willie Mae Carter, Ellen "Lucille" Darby, and Virginia Hood.

Aubrey leaves to cherish his memories, his three devoted children, Aubrey Donnell "Don" Herbin (Regina) , Lithonia, GA; Vanessa Mealaine Herbin-Wong (Benjamin) , Henderson, NV and Nicole Georgette Herbin, Hampton, VA. Grandchildren: James R. Herbin (Christina), Ann Arbor, MI; Aubrey Don Herbin II, Lithonia, GA; Tzion and Sana'a Wong, Henderson, NV; Nikolas and Isaiah Herbin-Vann, Hampton, VA.; and great-great grandson Elijah Herbin, Ann Arbor, MI.  Siblings: Robert "Bobby" Herbin (Mary) , Newport News, VA; Mary "Naomi" Davis (Leon/deceased) , Newport News, VA and George A. Herbin (Erma), Southfield, MI.; and a brother-in-law, Francis Hood, Darlington, South Carolina. A special friend Johnny Davis, Hampton, VA and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins as well as many other loved ones and friends.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions the memorial service will be private. O. H. Smith and Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
