Bernice M. Joyner, 79, was born on November 17, 1942 in Nashville, North Carolina and departed this life on January 5, 2022 in Newport News, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Outlaw; father, David Rogers; brother, David "Bug" Rogers Jr.; sister, Phyllis N. Rogers; and son, Bobby Whitaker.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Hubert Joyner; daughter, Kim Joyner; son, Hubert Ramon Joyner; granddaughter, Raven Joyner; sister, Claretta Battle; brothers, Cedric Outlaw (Shawanda), William "WJ" Rogers (Sallie), Andrew Woods, Joseph Outlaw Sr., and Derrick Outlaw; sister-in-law, Katie Parker; daughter-in-law, Doris Whitaker; special cousins/sisters, Willye Battle and Pasty Ann Fox; special daughter, Pamela Seldon-Washington; a host of nieces, nephews, and family friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the funeral home.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
