Bobby Lee Murphy, Sr., 83, entered into eternal rest on December 26, 2021 at Saber Hampton Health and Rehab in Hampton, VA.

Bobby was born on March 20, 1938 in Caswell County, North Carolina to the late Fletcher Murphy and the late Annie Howard Murphy. Bobby attended Newport News Public Schools and after graduation in 1956, he was employed by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. until his health failed.

Bobby was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia where he faithfully served as a member of the Trustee Board until his health failed.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Williams Murphy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Glenda Denise Murphy and son, Bobby Murphy Jr. both of Hampton VA; one grandson, Devon Morrell, of Hampton, VA; one sister, Betsy Murphy Upshur of Newport News, VA; two sisters-in- law, Beverly Thomas and Linda Dennis; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Saber Hampton Health and Rehab in Hampton Virginia for the care they provided to our love one.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at Providence Baptist Church.  Viewing will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2021 at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
