On Wednesday May 13th, Carey Hiawatha Wrenn Jr., loving father and grandfather, passed away
peacefully at the age of 83. He is preceded in rest by his parents Ollie Mae and Carey H. Wrenn
Sr.

Carey was born on July 6th, 1936 in Newport News, Virginia. Carey served in the U.S. Army
from 1954 to 1957 and was deployed to Korea for 16 months. After he was honorably discharged
from active duty, Carey received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Howard University in
Washington, D.C. Carey went to work for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC), where he rose to the level of Director of the Multimedia Division. While working for
EEOC, Carey was able to help expand that agency's department nationwide. He also taught
graphic arts at the Washington Technical Institute which is now part of the University of the
District of Columbia.

Upon retiring from the Federal Government, Carey served as President of MCM Productions a
video production company dedicated to providing content on critical issues that affected both the
minority and the Latino community. While there, he was appointed to the National Aeronautics
and Space Administration (NASA) Minority Business Resource Advisory Committee.

Carey later started his own television production company, C.H. Wrenn & Associates where he
produced and directed programming for audiences that made an impact and were socially
relevant. He also worked as a consultant to the Newport News Virginia Cable Television
Advisory Commission before his retirement. He regularly attended Trinity Baptist Church,
Chestnut Avenue, Newport News, VA.

Carey is survived by two sisters, Janet Patterson (Pat), Laryce Dixon (Leroy), two sons Louis
(Marie) and Jason. Three grandchildren Brian, Nolan and Clarke, and former spouse (Anne),
siter-in-law Francine Boothe (Joe), niece (Donna) and two nephews (Kurt and David), great
niece and nephews and a host of family and friends.

The family of Carey would like to thank everyone for the love and support they received during
this difficult time. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, cards can be mailed to Jason
