On Saturday, August 2, 2025, God's Angels called Carl Wayne Richardson, Sr. home following a brief illness. He was born on August 1, 1964, to the late Levy and Elizabeth Richardson.

A native of Halifax County, North Carolina, Carl attended Northwest High School. He later moved to Newport News, VA, where he began his career at the Newport News Shipyard. After some time, he transitioned to the Newport News Public School System before ultimately launching his own landscaping business, Carl's Lawn Care, LLC and working part time with Pollard's Florist.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his two sisters, Velma R. Smith and Alma (Patricia) Richardson.

Carl was a dedicated servant whose faith in God remained steadfast. He relied on the promises of God, believing that all was well with his soul. Known for his ability to connect with anyone, Carl never met a stranger and was always ready with a joke to elicit a laugh. He had a passion for golf, gardening, and was a loyal fan of the six-time Super Bowl champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, nothing brought him more joy than his Queen, Janice, with whom he shared a perfect match in style and flair. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Janice Stevens Richardson; two sons, Zacharo Highsmith of Newport News, VA., Carl Richardson, Jr. of Hampton, VA, and one daughter, Shannon Stevens of Columbus, OH; three granddaughters, Nikayla of Ohio, Somara of Pennsylvania, and Caliyah of Newport News, VA.; four sisters, Carmilla Johnson and Phyllis (Shirtney)Levisy of Newport News, VA; Betty McWilliams of Rocky Mount, NC. and Jeanette (Wilson) Williams of Enfield, NC.; one brother, Bishop E. D. Richardson of Hampton VA.; along with a multitude of other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025 at The Empowerment Zone, 1901 E. Pembroke Avenue, Hampton, VA 23663.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
