Casey was educated in the Newport News Public School system at Warwick High School. He ended his long career as an employee with the Parks and Recreation in the city of Hampton.
Casey married the love of his life, LaTanya Kay, on October 15, 2023, a date he chose in honor of his brother Bubba's birthday, knowing it would always hold special meaning for him. Their relationship was built on a deep connection, strengthened by their shared love of sports and a mutual heart for people and service. Together, they found joy in traveling and creating lasting memories with family, cherishing each moment they spent side by side.
Casey Lawrence, a dedicated father, loving husband, and a cherished friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and kindness. Casey's life was devoted to his children, family, and community, and he was known as the cousin who stayed connected, often showing up unannounced with a cheerful "What's up!"
His generosity and commitment to those around him were evident in everything he did.
An avid fisherman and a loyal fan of the Commanders, Casey enjoyed spirited debates, always engaging in conversations with passion and humor. He was guided by the wisdom of Proverbs 4:7, particularly the phrase: "...and with all thy getting, get understanding." This approach to life shaped his interactions and his relationships.
Casey was a proud member of the Scottish Rite. Joining Bethel Lodge #7 in Chuckatuck, Virginia, before continuing his service at King Edward #1 in Norfolk, where he achieved the honor of 14°. He also served as the Worthy Patron for the Order of the Eastern Star, Rose of Sharon Chapter. Throughout his life, Casey exemplified the values of brotherhood, charity, integrity, and service, becoming a role model for those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alphonso Casey Lawrence and Lucille Peele Lawrence, and his beloved siblings Cheryl, Chrissy, and Bird.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, LaTanya; children, Debra Monique McCleary, Dominquk Belfield, and stepdaughter Talia Wesson; and grandchildren Lucas, Destiny, Isaiah, Kali, Koa, and Zoe.
His siblings, Andrew Blythe (Lee), Calvin Lawrence, Alphonso Lawrence (Chirmere), Delilah Lawrence, and Cheryl "Bird" Gray, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, will forever carry his spirit in their hearts.
Casey's dedication to his family, his community, and his values will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
