Charles "Charlie" Edward Robinson of Hampton, VA, departed physical life, September 13, 2021. He was born on March 25, 1955 to the late Edward (Curtis) and Margie Robinson in Newport News, VA. He was educated in the Newport Public schools where he was a member of the Huntington High School band.
He remained in the Tidewater area and was a contractor employee at NASA Langley Research Center for 48 years. Charles was also an employee at Anheuser-Busch. He was an avid lover of different music genres – especially jazz and was a devoted musician at Genesis Christian Fellowship Church of Newport News.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Curtis, and his grandson, Tevon Jamal Gaskins.
Charles leaves his loving wife, Doris Flanders-Robinson, whom he was married to for 10 years. He also leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Merranda Pettaway, Kellen Holmes, and Kandee Flanders; son, Janmicheal (Tasha) Jefferson; mother, Margie Robinson; sister, Cynthia Robinson; and his grandchildren, Edward Darnell Pettaway, Jaquan Tyrell Pettaway, DeQura Myasia Holloman, Julian Kahlil Davis, Kahilya Patricia Davis, Deimadre Hooks Jr., Mychelle Nichole Hooks, Sarah Zhelynn-Denyce Hooks, and Tyrese Messiah Jefferson; and great-grandchild, Joel Journey Thomas. In addition, he leaves a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncle, and a host of cousins and friends.
All services will take place at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A viewing will be held Friday, October 1st, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. He will lie in state from 9:00 am – 11:00 am on Saturday morning, October 2nd. A private service celebrating Charles' life will be held October 2nd. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
