Charles Henry Smith, 71, of Newport News, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Harriet and Otis Henry Smith, Sr.

Charles served in the United States Army for more than seventeen years at which time he was assigned to the 5th ADA, 3rd Armored Division, Ft. Hood Texas.

He leaves to cherish his memory two brothers, Harry E. Reid II (Gloria) and Otis H. Smith Jr. (Armeke); and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  

Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the funeral home.  Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 2p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
