Obituary

On Friday, January 18, 2019, Clarence Otis "Cookie" Lyons entered his eternal rest. He was born on July 3, 1948, Tarboro, NC to the late Allie Lyons and Jack Tiery.

Cookie graduated from Carver High School and began working at Riverside Hospital. He would later be employed with Newport News Shipbuilding where he would remain for the next 35 years before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Allie Lyons.

He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Hope Lyons London (Thurman), Charonia Lyons Meekins, Monica Lyons Bloodsaw (Maurice), and Rovicka Sutton, all of Newport News, VA; three sisters, Mary Ellen Richardson (James), Minnie Lyons Coles, both of Newport News, VA, and Wanda Lyons of Hampton, VA; one brother, James "Lo" Lyons of Newport News, VA; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Cornerstone Worship Center International, Hampton. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
