Clarence A. Savage entered into eternal rest on July 9, 2018. Clarence was born on January 13, 1955 to the late Albert Savage and Chestine Savage in North Carolina.
Clarence was educated in the Newport News School System. As a young man he worked for the City of Newport News Waste Management from 1973-1987. He also drove dump trucks for a variety of companies and was later self employed.
Clarence "Slim" was a hard working and loving man. He loved to tell jokes and laugh. He loved all his family and brothers. He loved to have a good time and dance. He just loved life. He was a strong man and a fighter who never gave up even when he was sick.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Chestine Savage; father, Albert Savage; brother, Bruce Savage; and stepson, Dorale Braxton.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, his children, Chonda Weekes, LaKiesha Corbin and Clarence Braxton; longtime girlfriend, Belinda Braxton; brothers, Robert Savage, Alphonso Dickens and Louis Savage; stepchildren, Donnell Braxton and Nicole Braxton; 13 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Rising Star Christian Church, 2514 Roanoke Ave., Newport News. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday. O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
