Obituary

Clyde Ernesto Plummer, affectionately known as "Springtime," transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father on July 15, 2024, in Newport News, Virginia.  He was born May 1, 1948 in Norfolk, Virginia. Clyde was a man who truly loved life, evidenced by his passion for family, dancing and oyster.

Being a long time resident of Hampton, Clyde built a successful career as a contractor specializing in concrete, masonry and woodwork, leaving a lasting impact on many structures in communities.  His work ethic and skills were as strong and reliable as the materials he worked with.

Clyde was the beloved son on the late Gloria Fazarro Peters and Clyde Plummer and was raised by his late grandparents, Enesto and Edna Fazarro.  He was the oldest of four siblings; brother, Michael Peters of Sacramento, CA; sister, Frances Peters Brown, deceased, brother, Gene Peters of Torrence, California.

Clyde's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his son, Tito Freeman of Hampton.  Survived by aunts, Jean Fazarro Mack of Hampton, Edna Fazarro Eleazer of New Jersey, Sheron Fazarro Marion of New Jersey, Dona Fazarro of Texas; his closest cousins, Delores Fazarro Jackson, Gregory Fazarro; and hanging partner, Sheron Jackson of Hampton; and  a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His life was a testament to the power of cherishing every moment and living fully, just as the springtime (as his nickname)… he so loved.

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2024.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
