Mr. Curtis Leon Jennings departed this life on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born on November 17, 1953, to Phillip Jennings and Clementine Parker. He co-owned with his wife, Hampton Masonry, Inc., Hampton, VA.

Leon was known for his expertise in masonry and shared his knowledge throughout Tidewater and the surrounding areas. He was sought after and consulted by the Hampton City School System, local businesses, and homeowners throughout the Hampton and Newport News communities. He was an active and faithful member of Heart and Hands Community Church where he served on numerous committees, served as an Elder, and led the Adult Sunday School Class. He also served his community by participating in the holiday Feeding of Senior Citizens, providing Lunch for various cancer patients, Thursday Food Give Away to the Neighborhood, Friends, and the Homeless, Toys for Tots, and Back to School events. Leon was dedicated to his church, family, and friends.

He married Dr. Faynetta Jennings and took on an extensive blended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Jennings; his brother, Eric Jennings; and his son, Randall Anderson. Leon leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Dr. Faynetta Jennings; his mother, Clementine Parker; his father, Tommy Overton, Sr.; daughter, Sybil Buchanan; sons, Curtis Jennings, Jr. and Jermaine Anderson; brothers, Phillip Jennings, Dr. Dwight Jennings, Dr. Steven Jennings, Charles Jennings and Cecil Overton; sisters, Scerene Giles, Audrey Overton and Andrea Shepherd; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday July 10, 2023, at Heart and Hands Community Church, 912 Briarfield, Newport News, VA. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 12-3 p.m., Sunday, July 9, 2023 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
