Curtis C. Wilkins Obituary

Curtis Wilkins, 75, of Hampton, departed this life on December 26, 2020 after a brief illness.  He was born in Tarboro, NC and was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Wilkins and Bertha (Carney) Wilkins.  Sadly, he was also preceded in death by all ten of his siblings, of which he was the youngest.

He received his education in the North Carolina public school system, and after moving to Newport News in the early 70's, he had a fulfilling career at Nick Allen Buick car dealership. He later worked for and retired from Uno's Bar and Grill.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Denice Wilkins; two daughters, Fawnta (Keith) Weaver and Ebony Wilkins; and four grandchildren, Tyrell Williams, Tamaje Williams, Resean Moore and Shenya Moore.  He also leaves behind a best friend, Harvey Albritton, of Sumter, SC, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Curtis led a fulfilling life and was a quiet, mild, soft spoken man who never complained but brought joy and laughter to many.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus in Hampton, VA.  He was also a devoted Redskins fan; loved solving crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy (and never missed an episode).  His skills in the kitchen were legendary and he was known for everything from fried chicken to his famous collard greens.   Though he enjoyed many things, his family was his greatest source of happiness.  He especially cherished his wife, and they were truly a team, a dynamic duo, balancing and supporting each other over decades together.  He was a man of sterling reputation who set an example worthy of imitation by all.  He will be deeply missed.

Viewing will be from 1-4 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Due to COVID 19 restrictions a private service will be held.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
