CW3 (Ret) Willie Manning Jr.

NEWPORT NEWS- It is with heavy hearts, we announce that CW3 (Ret) Willie Manning Jr. (Chief), age 75, our most beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed suddenly on Thursday, December 21, 2023, while in rehabilitation in Fairfax, VA. Chief Manning served 27 years in the US Army. He was married to LTC (Ret) Vernita Anderson-Manning for 30 years. The union blended five wonderful children who have helped create a lifetime of memories. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew him, but his legacy will endure as a testament to the extraordinary person he was.

Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 29, 2023 at New Beech Grove Baptist Church, Newport News. Viewing will be from 3-6 pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
