Obituary

Mrs. Della Lee Mitchell was preceded in death by her father Leroy Graves; her mother, Annie Louise (Wilkins) Graves; and her husband, Andre Mitchell. She was born on May 7, 1955 in Waverly, Virginia. She later relocated to Newport News, Virginia. Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Sussex Central High School Class Of 1973. She was a devoted & long time member of Faith Deliverance Baptist Church. Her transition from physical into everlasting life was on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Mrs. Mitchell was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt & friend. She was an employee by the Department of Defense Office Building 3306 for 20 years. After retiring she later went back to work for the Community Service Board as a secretary. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to garden and care for her plants. She loved her dog, Blade.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Yomashei Coleman; sons, Jamar Coleman (Tonya) and Danquai Draughon all of Newport News, Virginia.

She also leaves special memories with her 9 grandchildren; 3 great-granddaughters; her partner, Mr. Raymond McDonald Jr. of Chesapeake, Virginia; along with 3 brothers, Leroy, Linwood and Robert Graves; 3 sisters, Beverly Williams, Linda Briggs and Darlene Bailey; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2024 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
