Late afternoon, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, Earnestine Nickerson was called home to glory. She was born December 23, 1949 to the late beloved Lonnie L. and Carrie B. Lloyd of Seale, Alabama.
Earnestine married the late Simuel Nickerson and from this union they were blessed with one loving daughter, Carolyn Patrice Nickerson (Lloyd). In 1968, Earnestine graduated from George W. Carver High School. She continued her education and received an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy and Mental Health from Thomas Nelson Community College.
Earnestine's compassionate spirit created the perfect foundation as she built her career in Mental Health Therapy and Assisted Living for the Disabled Community. Earnestine was employed by Eastern State Hosiptal and Mental Institution and served with the Hampton-Newport News Community Service Board.
Earnstine also possessed an outgoing spirit and a love for nature, gardening and beautiful flowers. She was often found fishing on a waterfront or riverbank. She was a loving mother, wonderful aunt and a loyal friend that will be missed by many.
Earnstine was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Z-Niyah Lloyd; sisters, Lillie B. Lloyd and Shirley M. Martin; and brother, Sherman L. Martin.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, her daughter, Carolyn P. Lloyd (Kelly); two grandsons, Terry C. Lloyd (Tanisha) and Jonney Graves, Jr.; four great grandchildren, Zahria Lloyd, Jayden Lloyd, Yahya Graves and Hasan Graves; three nephews, Anthony Lloyd, Lonnie Lloyd (Zahra) and Eric Lloyd (Linda); one niece, Bonita Lloyd; and a host of grand nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
