Eddie Wood Bunch was born on February 22, 1935, in Ahoskie, North Carolina, to the late Joseph W. Bunch and Alvania K. Bunch. A man of strength, conviction, and leadership, Eddie lived a life defined by service, dicipline, and faith. 

He Graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1958 and that same year enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country from 1954 to 1958. After his military service, Eddie went on to work for many years at a NewYork State mental health facility before retiring in 1997. Eddie was widely known for his love of sports, especially tennis. As a tennis coach at Heritage High School, he mentored and inspired many young athletes, teaching not only the game but also the values of dicipline, perseverance, and confidence.

 A man of deep faith, Eddie faithfully served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church East End before relocating out of state. He was known for being direct, confident, and a natural leader whose wisdom and presence left a lasting impression on those around him. 

Eddie Wood Bunch peacefully transitioned on February 22, 2026, on his 91st birthday. He will be remembered for his strength, leadership, and the lasting example he set for his family, community, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2026 at First Baptist Church East End with Military Honors. Please continue to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
