Edith Celeste Brown was born March 10, 1971, died October 29, 2021 at her home with her daughter and Josh King. She was raised by Josephine Rebecca "Webb" Brown and William Alexander Brown. Edith's biological parents were the late Barbara Brown and Theodore Roosevelt Goodman Jr.  Edith is survived by her siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins.

Edith had one Child, Jessica C. Brown. Jessica Brown has been Edith's pride and joy from the moment she was born. It was a passion of hers to have Jessica acquire higher education and obtain her doctoral degree; which she was able to see her begin the process just this past year. Her love and dedication to Jessica had no bounds as she would do anything for her daughter.

Edith graduated from Hampton High School where she was on the Track and Field Team and Flag Twirling Team. In pursuing a higher Education Edith Graduated from Christopher Newport University with two degrees. A Bachelor of Science in Governmental Administration with a concentration in Legal Studies and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Real Estate. Edith has held positions throughout her career including Manager, Legal Assistant, Office Manager, Senior Real Estate Legal Assistant.

Edith was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Upsilon Tau Omega Chapter, located in Washington, Maryland.  Edith pledged May 10 ^th 1992 at Christopher Newport University. Edith was the chapter's Parliamentarian. In this role, she performed with distinction. She was responsible for advising the chapter President in the interpretation of the sorority's governing documents and Roberts Rules of Order.

Edith attended Christian Union Church in Newport News, Virginia. When Edith moved to Maryland, she became a proud member of a Church "The Sanctuary at Kingdom Square" where the Bishop Elect Anthony G Maclin is Pastor. At the "The Sanctuary at Kingdom Square" Edith quickly took on leadership roles as the head of Christian education, head of vacation bible school, and had a prominent leadership role in the girl scout ministry (both within her own troops and all troops at the church). Not only did she take on leadership roles within the church, she also took on leadership roles within Girl Scout council as Fall Product chairperson, and troop service unit leader at a point in time. Volunteering was a very important part of Edith's life and she took it as seriously as she took her own job.

Edith worked as Real Estate Paralegal at Ballard Spahr National Law Firm LLC where she has been employed for 15 years. Her hard work and dedication were second to none as her knowledge and skillset may have surpassed some lawyers of the firm. She was a mentor, Lead Paralegal and always was integral to the Attorney's and paralegal Staff. Though this was a law firm, many of the individuals that work there would simply call Edith just to talk about how their day was going. Her presence will surely be missed at this office.

She leaves behind not just her family, but all the lives to which she has touched along the way. Her 50 years on this earth was not in vain. She changed lives and may she Rest in Peace with our Heavenly Father.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Viewing will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the funeral home.  Ms. Brown will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Tuesday.  O.
