Edward Percell Brown, 73, passed away on May 29, 2018 after an extended illness. Edward is the son of the late Percell and Mildred Brown. He was a proud graduate of Huntington High School. He attended Hampton Institute where he met his wife of 50 years Mary B. Brown.

Edward served proudly in the US Army. He worked as an Insurance salesman for North Carolina Mutual. He served as Cubmaster for Boy Scout Troop 23 based at Robert E. Lee Elementary. He worked for the City of Newport News as a security officer until his retirement. Edward is preceded in death his wife, parents, and sister, Gloria Jean James.
Edward is survived by his son, Anthony Percell Brown (Cynthia M.); sisters, Joyce McMillan, Peggy Stephenson, and Maxine McKnight; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Stephanie Spencer (care giver), Stacey Ornelas (care giver) and the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for their professionalism, dedication to duty, wonderful care and support.

A funeral service will be held 12 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 230-33rd Street, Newport News. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Thursday. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
