On March 18, 1944, in Newport News, Virginia, Ella Mae Flemming was born, the fourth of ten children, to the late Samuel Z. Flemming and the late Argolia Edmundson Flemming.  On July 31, 2019, Ella Mae took her Savior's hand and passed from time into Eternity to be at peace at last!

Ella truly loved the Lord!  In 1967, Ella joined St. Timothy COCH USA, under the pastorate of the late Elder James C. Smith.  As a devoted member, Ella became active in various capacities.  She served as president of the Holy Young People's Union (HYPU) for eight years, and then became treasurer.  In the Christian Women Willing Workers (CWWW) Missionary Band, she served as Chaplain.  She served faithfully as the secretary for many years on the Senior Usher Board.  She was a member of the Women's Chorus and worked faithfully with the Sunbeams.  Ella loved children and worked faithfully with them.  She became a foster parent for the City of Newport News, and over many years cared for at-risk children!  Ella understood God's Word to cultivate a spirit of benevolence and to aid the cause of missions; therefore, she would go into homes and assist her elderly sisters who didn't have anyone to help them in preparing meals, bathing, and other activities.

In 1962, Ella married the late James Pitts.  She stayed a widow for eight years, until the Lord sent her Percell (Mac).  In 1973, she married Percell McNair.  He was a loving husband and father to Ella's children and also with her mission work!  When Percell's health failed him, she lovingly cared for him until his death.  She leaves to cherish her loving memories:  one daughter, Ernestine Jones (Maurice) of Clinton, MD, two sons Steven Pitts (Veanna) of Smithfield, VA, and Michael Pitts (Michelle) of Gloucester, VA; and two step sons, Percell Jr. of Washington, DC and Keith McNair of Williamsburg, VA; two sisters, Margie Parker of Baldwin, NY, and Elnora Scott (Robert) of Yorktown, VA; six brothers, Samuel Fleming (Clara) of Hillside, NJ, Eugene Flemming (Jean) of Virginia Beach, VA; George Fleming of Rock Hill, SC, Steven Fleming (LeeVern), Vernon Flemming (Vanessa) of Newport News, VA and Eddie Flemming (Judy) of Hampton, VA; two aunts, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends, and a special friend (her six o'clock prayer partner), who helped her in so many ways, Mary E. Parker.  Thank you, Mary!

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Emmanuel Chapel Church, 200 Hampton Roads Avenue, Hampton, VA.  Viewing will be held Friday, August 9th, from 3 - 6 p.m. at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
