Obituary

On Thursday, December 8, 2022, God in His omnipotent power called our beloved Mother, Elnora Stalling Bullock Clay aka "Shug" from labor to rest. No more suffering, no more pain. Earth's sorrow, Heaven's gain!

Ms. Elnora as she was affectionately called, was born on March 17, 1931, in Louisburg, North Carolina to the late Gladys Fogg Engram and Geobie Stallings. After relocating to Newport News, Virginia, she raised her children on her famous home cook meals from scratch without a recipe or measurements! Yes, people came from far and near to get her fried fish, corn bread and sweet potatoes pies, and the list goes on. The Master Cook!! Ms. Elnora was a lifetime member of Second Baptish Church, now Miracle Temple, under the leadership of Rev. E.T. Byrd, Pastor Floyd Blackwell, and now Pastor Anthony Cooper. She served several years with the Gleaner's, and kitchen staff until her health begin to fail.

Ms. Elnora was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Peggie B. Cherry; son, William Bernard Bullock; granddaughters, Alvina McEachern Zambrana, Tonya Renea Lewis; grandson, Darrius Judkins; sister, Lena Smith; and brother, Paul Engram Jr.

Ms. Elnora , leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Dorothea Fisher (Billy), Diane Bullock, Gladys Lady Bullock, and Belinda Young; sons, Bobby Bullock of CA, and D'Andre Peoples (Tracy); her sisters, Mary Johnson, Ann Harris, Bertha Cardwell (Chico), and Rogerline Williamsons; brother, Geobie Stallings, Jr.; granddaughters, Samantha Cherry, Tabitha Middleton, BJ Cherry, KC Cherry, TaNisha Balarezo (Carlos), KeDoni Hill, and Andrea Missi Batten; grandsons, Curtis Bullock, Robert Judkins, Terence Bullock (Tawshawa) and JaQuan Walker; eighteen great-grands, twelve great great-grands;  two aunts, Pearline Foster and Edna Fogg; special nephew, Wesley Tony Egerton; bonus son, Jerry Peoples; several nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Miracle Temple Baptist Church, 617-32nd Street, Newport News, VA 23607.  Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
