Ethel Earlene (Chisman) Borum, 83, departed this earthly life and entered into eternal peace on Sept. 9, 2017.

She was born on Oct. 27, 1933 in Seaford, VA to John B. Chisman and Mamie (Wright) Chisman; both deceased. She was married to Wilbert T. Borum for 52 years until his death in 2009. Ethel is also preceded in death by her five brothers Willis, Levi, John "Johnny Boy", Stafford and Earl.

A graduate of York County Training School and of business college in Manhattan, Ethel retired in 1990 after 29 years of civil service at Fort Monroe Army Base and Langley Air Force Base.
A quiet and humble woman of abiding faith, Mrs. Borum was baptized at Grafton Baptist Church - Harris Grove and was a member of First Baptist Church of Hampton for over 50 years. She lavished kindness on all she encountered.

Affectionately known as "Mumma", she was the perfect mother to her four children, Michael Borum (Kim), Cathy BaCote (Theodore III), Jennifer Bechet (Leon), and Colette Gresham (Doran) and a loving grandmother to Devin, Ashley, Michael-Julian, Theodore IV, Aaron, Cameron, Noelle, Nicolette, Madison and Nina. Ethel will forever be cherished by her five nieces, three nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 15 at First Baptist Church of Hampton, King Street with the Rev. Dr. Joan S. Parrott officiating. Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14 at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are by O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
