Evelyn Bradley Golden

January 11, 1949 - October 28, 2024

Evelyn Bradley Golden was born January 11, 1949, in Niagara Falls, New York. She was the daughter of the late Charles E. Bradley and Inez Dotson - Allen. Evelyn graduated from Huntington High School in 1967 and continued her education at Peninsula Business College, majoring in Secretarial Science where she received her Diploma in May 1969. In 1978, she began her new Career path as a Clerk Typist at U.S. Army Training Support Center Fort Eustis VA and in 2005 was promoted to Administrative Support Assistant, US Army Training and Doctrine Command HQ TRADOC DCSOPS & T, TRAINING DEVELOPMENT & ANALYSIS DIRECTORATE (TDAD) Office of the Director, Fort Monroe, VA, where she retired in 2012.

On July 29, 1988, Evelyn Bradley married John H. Golden. Together they shared 36 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories. Evelyn was a devoted member of Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple in Hampton, Virginia for 40 plus years. She served faithfully in the Hospitality Ministry, Women's Ministry, Financial Ministry and Sixth House U.S. D. A. Food and Nutrition Services Program, in addition was a graduate of the Hampton Citizen Police Academy, member of its Alumni Association and LES FEMMES SOCIAL & CIVIC CLUB, LTD.

On October 28, 2024, Evelyn departed this earthy life and entered Heaven's eternity. She was preceded in death by her father Charles E. Bradley, mother Inez Dotson Allen, Stepfather Joe N. Allen and sister Sharon R. Allen.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband John H. Golden of Hampton, VA, her stepdaughter Tonya R. Golden of Hampton, VA, and her granddaughters Courtney Smith and Alexis Smith of Hampton, VA, and great grandson Logan Smith of Hampton, VA. Her five sisters  Annie P. Young (John) of Hampton, VA, Mary-Ann McNeill of Newport News, VA, Kay Allen of Hampton, VA, Tarita Stonewall (Leland) of Hampton, VA, Michelle Hussey (Darryl) of Chillicothe, OH and brother Charles Grace (Ann) of Dozier, Alabama, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Evelyn enjoyed cooking, shopping, travelling and watching re-runs of her favorite show "I Love Lucy". She made it her purpose to leave every person she encountered better than she found them. Some of her famous words were, I treat people the way God treats me, and that is just what she did. She was always a listening ear and was always willing to help those in need. She truly had a servant's heart. Her lifelong scripture was John 3:16.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2024 at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple. 3100 Butternut Drive, Hampton, Virginia.  Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.  Viewing will be from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, November 23rd at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church on Monday.  O. H.
