On June 30, 2026 heaven gained another angel. The world shined bright for Evelyn “Tootsie” Moore on December 14,1928 in Newport News, Virginia to the late Major and Catherine Moore. 

The second oldest of eight, she completed her school years in Newport News and graduated from Huntington High School in 1949. After a few short years of her adult life in Virginia, she relocated to the Washington, D.C. area and gave birth to her son, Michael Moore, and daughter, Rosalyn Moore. Although she only officially gave birth to two kids, her numerous nieces and nephews were practically her kids too. Ms.Moore’s caring ways and sweet gestures poured in everyone throughout the community. Everyone knew and loved Ms.Moore! 

There is no doubt that her spirit and legacy will live on. She leaves to cherish 2 children, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Ms. Moore may be viewed from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday and two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.  Please keep the the Moore family in your thoughts and prayers.  O.
