On Saturday, January 26, 2019, Frances Elizabeth Carter entered into eternal rest.  Born January 6, 1934 in Drewryville, VA (Southampton County) to the late Mary and James Parker, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amonis Carter. She leaves to cherish her memory, her brother, Harrie T. Jones, Jr. of Hampton; her sister, Mary Brewer of Hampton; two daughters, Deborah Hudson of Suffolk and Linda Carter-Ashby (Terrence) of Hampton; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, other relatives, extended family and friends.

Viewing will be from 2 – 6 pm, Thursday, January 31, 2019 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 3009 Chestnut Avenue, Newport News, VA. A funeral service will be held 12 noon, Friday, February 1, 2019 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 5405 Roanoke Avenue, Newport News, VA.  Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.  Flowers may be sent to O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home on Thursday January 31, 2019.
