Frankie Lee Herring, 70, of Newport News, VA passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, August 20, 2022 at O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Newport News, VA. He was born March 14, 1952 to Mr. Marion and Lizzie Herring in New Haven CT, but later moved to Goldsboro, NC. After high school, he served approximately ten years in the Army stationed in Germany. He attended Central Piedmont College and trained as a physical therapist assistant and worked for Hope Health in Florence, SC and Danville, VA before coming to Newport News where he worked for a contractor at Newport News Shipbuilding. The last few months, he was training to work for the Newport News School System as a bus driver. Frankie always stayed connected with a large network of family and friends. He was easy to talk to and inquisitive regarding politics and religion. His favorite sports team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He leaves behind his wife, Angelia Lunn-Herring, a stepson, David Lunn and a daughter, Cybill Peterson. Also, his sisters, Darlene Johnson, May H. Austin, Joy Herring, Marlena Monroe, and Billie Ann Morgan and brothers, Mark Wright, Todd Wright, deceased brothers, Marion Herring, Christopher Herring, Gordon Herring and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  O.
