Franklin H. Wilson

(February 24, 1942 - August 3, 2021)

Franklin H. Wilson was born on February 24, 1942 in the City of Newport News, Virginia to the late Victoria Lee Wilson.

Franklin graduated from Huntington High School in June 1960.  He later retired from Fort Monroe as an Accounting Specialist after 40 years of service.  He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy and recently retired from the Maintenance Department at Hampton University.

He was preceded in death by Sadie Smith (mother), Rudolph Smith, Sr. (stepfather), Rudolph Smith, Jr. (brother), Sandra Smith (sister), Ernest Johnson (brother) and Asia Wilson (granddaughter).

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 49 years, Juanita; daughters, Frankie Wilson-Harrison, Warline McQueen (Bobby), Shawn Maynor, Dietris Maynor, sons, William Wilson (Kim), Gene Maynor (Tanya), brother, Raymond Wazeerud-Din; sister, Linda Smith-Alexandre (David); 23 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.

Franklin was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, Christian and faithful friend.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home with Chaplain Linda Smith-Alexandre, presiding.  Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA.  Viewing will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the funeral home and from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Thursday.  O.
