Gerline L. Jacobs was called home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2017.

She was born April 26, 1928 to the late William A. Banks, Sr. and Annie L. Banks. She retired from both the Cafeteria System of Newport News Public Schools and Langley Air Force Base Commissary.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Denise J. Widgeon (Earnest) of Newport News and Cynthia J. Bingham of Springfield, VA; one sister, Vernell B. Cooke of Newport News, VA; one brother, William A. Banks, Jr. of Hampton, VA; three granddaughters, Sonya A. Bingham, Chandra B. James (H. Orlando) and Kasey E. Widgeon all of Northern Virginia; a great grandson, H. Bryant James and a great granddaughter, Nylah L. James of Northern Virginia.

A homegoing service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 521 North Ave., Newport News, with the Rev. Howard Heard officiating. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Thursday. O.H.
