Obituary

Glenwood (Glen) Earl Hicks departed this life on March 1, 2024. He was born on April 16, 1957 to Lucille Hicks and James Otis Hicks.

Glen graduated from Edward Best High School. After graduating, he moved to Miami, Florida to pursue an Associates Degree in HVAC from Miami Dade College in 1983. After graduating from college he held various positions in the role as a HVAC Instructor and leadership positions. Glen retired from Holiday Inn in Hampton, Virginia as the Chief Assistant Engineer in 2017.

Glenn was a jack of all trades and was always very helpful to family, friends, and neighbors. After retirement, Glen enjoyed spending time gardening, listening to music, watching his favorite NFL team, the Indianapolis Colts, and passing out his home grown vegetables.

He was preceded in his death by his father, James O. Hicks; mother, Lucille Hicks; sister, Ernestine Levister; brother, James Hicks; and step-son, Courtland Pittman.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Addie Hicks of Hampton, VA; daughters, Brittany Hicks of Rocky Mount, NC and Tamika Hicks of Louisburg, NC; one step-daughter, Jacqueline Marshall (Robert); two sisters, Bertha May Perry of Newport News, VA and Bertine Matthew (Kenya "Chico") of Louisburg, NC; one brother, Ray Hicks of Louisburg, NC; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Ann Hicks of Rocky Mt., NC, Lenora Pittman of Newport News, VA and Mittie Ann Green of Newport News, VA; one brother-in-law, Clyde Johnson of Newport News, VA; one aunt, Lenora Fogg of Hampton, VA; eight grandchildren, Jaliyah Thomas, Gavin Thomas, Mariah Thomas, Landon Hicks, Courneisha Burgess, Xavier Pittman, Daisana Pittman, and Coreian Ross-Pittman; three great-grandchilden, Cayden Edwards, Keilai Baker, and Kileigh Baker; several nieces, nephews, and other loved ones and friends.

Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024.  Funeral service will be held 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
