On September 4, 2022, the heavens opened for Harold D. Evans, Sr. as he departed this life. He was born on August 8,1929 to the late Fred D. and Berline C. Evans. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Elizabeth Mae Evans (née Hyman); daughter, Kim E. Fitzgerald; and sister, Valada Hundley. Harold was a graduate of Huntington High School and Hampton Institute's Trade School. He was a Korean War Veteran and was a mail carrier in the US Postal Service. In 1952 Harold married Elizabeth M. Hyman. They had three children: Kim E. Fitzgerald, Jennifer Evans, and Harold D. Evans, Jr. Harold was a member of Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church. After the passing of his first wife, Harold remarried to Patricia G. Kane in 2007. He was beloved by all her family and friends.

Harold is survived by his wife, Patricia K. Evans; sister Sandra P. Evans; daughter, Jennifer Evans; son, Harold D. Evans, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Michael and Yolanda St Clair; along with a host of loving relatives and friends. Harold D. Evans, Sr. will truly be missed.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church, Newport News. Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home and two hours pior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.  O. H.
