Helen Lee Strange departed from this life on December 25, 2020.  She was born on April 2, 1944 in Halifax County, Virginia.  She was the wife of the late Timothy Strange.

The third of thirteen children, Helen was born to the late Willie McDonald Lee and Annie Maude Cobbs.  She was educated through the Halifax County's Public School System.  While in Halifax, she joined Peaceful Tabernacle Baptist Church at an early age.

As Helen continued on her life's journey, she married Timothy Strange.  As Newport News residents, they had two lovely children: Janice Veronica Strange and Kevin Lee Strange.

While in Newport News, Helen retired after 29 years of service from Siemens in 2001. Helen was an excellent co-provider, homemaker, as well as a spiritual influence in her home. In 1965, she joined Old Walters Temple AME Church. In 1976, her membership changed to Word of Life Church in Norfolk where she served faithfully as a praise and worship leader as well as in various positions until her health failed.

Helen was a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Also, she was a woman of deep faith, who unselfishly and willingly assisted others.  In addition, she loved gardening, preparing delicious meals, and providing care to many.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Janice Strange Boone (Will); son, Kevin Lee Strange (Marcia); sisters, Margie Addison, Linda Kasimu-Graham, Shirley Garner and Carliss Jacobs; brothers, James Earl Lee, Jerry Lee, Clarence Michael Lee, Bruce Lee and Kenneth Wayne Lee; grandchildren,  Isaiah Boone, Jaaron Boone, Kevin Lee Strange II, Madisyn Strange, and Cameron Strange; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who became dear to her heart along her life's journey.
