Hillard Brock, Jr. was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army where he served with Valor and Honor. He was called home to rest with the Heavenly Father on 17 April 2024.

Hillard loved his family and friends, to him there was nothing more important. He had a great love for fishing, rides to the local beaches and parks. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He would freely give his last to help others without hesitation.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lucy Brock and his father Hillard Brock, Sr. He was born on 20 May 1947 where he grew up in the small rural town of Engelhard, North Carolina. He attended Davis High School of Engelhard, N.C. Hillard furthered his education by attending Pitt Community College of North Carolina. However, before he could finish his education he was drafted for the Vietnam war.

During his time as a war fighter-Light Weapons Infantryman (LT WPNS INF), he received the following awards for heroism while performing his duties to country: Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon W/Device (1960), Sharpshooter Badge with Machine Gun Bar with Rifle Bar.

Hillard Brock, Jr. is survived by his wife Ida Marie Brock, Darlene Curtis-daughter, Frankie S. Washington-Son, Marcus Antonio Shelton-Son, Nephews Dorsey Spencer and Rodney Spencer. He is also survived by other significant beloved family members: Shelia Price, Sharon Harris, Mike West and Shelia Rambo.

A service honoring the life of Hillard Brock, Jr. will be held at 2 PM on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Albert G. Horton, Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery 5310 Milner Road, Suffolk VA 2343-9307.
