James "Jimmy" H. Boone
September 16, 1946 – July 15, 2025

Mr. James H. Boone, affectionately known as "Jimmy," was born on September 16, 1946, in Newport News, Virginia. On July 15, 2025, our Lord and Savior called him to eternal rest.  James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" A. Boone; his son, Terrence Tyree; his mother,
Elizabeth McDonald; his sister, Daisy "Dee-Dee" Lewter; and his brother, William "Baldie" Boone.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted daughter, Stacy Tyree; three beloved grandchildren, Krystal Tyree, Antonio Tyree, and Essence Tyree-Jackson; and his cherished great-grandson, DeVon Hyman Jr. He is also survived by three brothers, George Boone, Jessie "Ron-Lee" Boone, and Kenny Smith; his last surviving aunt, Edith Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

James graduated from Huntington High School in 1964. Shortly after, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served for a year before continuing his service in the Army Reserves until 1972. After his military service, he worked as a welder at the shipyard and later as a roofer. In 1990, James became a bus operator with Hampton Roads Transit (HRT), where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 2008.

A man of strong faith, James was a longtime and active member of Providence Baptist Church, where he served in many roles over the years. Before his career, Jimmy met the love of his life, Jackie. The two became inseparable, joining hands in marriage on November 20, 1985. They shared over 40 years of love and partnership until her  passing.

James was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan who enjoyed fishing, watching television—especially his favorite movie "Drumline," cooking and game shows, and all the Tyler Perry dramas. He loved listening to old-school blues and gospel music and spending time with his grandchildren. Known for his humor, kindness, and unwavering positivity, James was always there to help others and lift spirits. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. His light will continue to shine through all who knew and loved him.

Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025 at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at O. H.
