Mr. James David Barnes answered his father's call on April 4, 2017 in Newport News, VA. James was the son of the late Onell and Bishop David Barnes.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Barnes and a grandchild, Jakwon Barnes.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories two sons, James D. Barnes, Jr. and Derrick Barnes; 9 grandchildren, 8 brothers, 12 sisters, a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 5500 Marshall Ave., Newport News. Interment will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
