HAMPTON - James C. Ivey, 89, transitioned from life, to life everlasting on December 16, 2017. A native of Halifax County, North Carolina James was born to the late Jesse T. and Mattie B. Ivey. The fifth child of twelve, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce T. Ivey, seven sisters and four brothers. A fruitful man James leaves to cherish his loving memories five children: Vicki L. Crowder (Norman), James "Chris" Ivey (Nettie), Constance S. Graves (Mack), Scott J. Ivey and LaTonya R. Ferebee (Thomas). We extend our deepest and sincere thanks to the staff for the love, support and care given to our dad during his time at Sentara Careplex Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Zion Baptist Church, 125 W. County Street, Hampton. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, December 21st, at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
