James E. Johnson, Jr., 80, died peacefully in his sleep at his daughter and son-in-law's home on Sunday, September 11, 2022.  James Jr. was born August 6, 1942, to the late Ruth M. and James E. Johnson, Sr., in Newport News, Virginia.

Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2022  at Second Baptist Church East End, 3307 Chestnut Avenue, Newport News, Virginia 23607,  Rev. Dr. Leroy Salary, Jr., officiating.  Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2022 at O.H. Smith and Son Funeral Home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday.  Masks are required.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
