CARROLLTON- James M. Smallwood, 74, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019. He was born to the late William Robert and Viola W. Smallwood of Ivor, VA.

He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in 1994. He joined Sweet Haven Church of God in Christ, Carrollton.

He leaves to cherish his memories wife, Shelia Harris Smallwood; two brothers, Frank Smallwood (Catherine) and Purcell Smallwood (Clematine); two sisters, Lucille Eley and Madgeline Smallwood; daughter, Mary Jane Davis; stepsons, Joseph Eley (Arlene), Eric Harris (Shannon) and Walter C. Harris III; stepdaughter, Brenda Williams; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 at Sweet Haven Church of God in Christ, Carrollton. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Thursday. O.H.
