The Life of Jeanelle Williams Boyd
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, Jeanelle Williams Boyd departed this world to a place of eternal rest. Jeanelle was born June 9, 1925, in Martins County, North Carolina to the late John Henry Williams and Mae Bettie Williams. From this union, eleven children were born.
Jeanelle moved to Newport News Virginia, at an early age and attended Huntington High School, and graduated in 1944. She later furthered her education and graduated from Monroe Business College in New York.
Jeanelle met Charles "Charlie" Boyd, and they were married on January 1, 1949, in Newport News, Virginia. They were married for sixty-one years before his demise.
Jeanelle's professional journey began at a young age with the Federal Government. Her dedication and hard work led to her promotion as the Chief of Data Processing. She retired from Fort Eustis in 1985, after an illustrious career spanning 40 years of service.
Jeanelle's love for her family was unparalleled. She cherished her sisters and often visited them in Richmond, Virginia, Long Island, New York, and Greenville, North Carolina, creating lasting memories with them.
Jeanelle was a woman who truly lived life to the fullest. She had a passion for travel, enjoyed bowling, and spent her spare time playing Pinochle and Pokeno. Her vibrant social life included being a charter member of the Newport News Continental Society, Incorporated, a member of the Dochiki Wives, and the founder of the Glowettes Social and Civic Club.
Jeanelle was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charlie, and all ten of her siblings.
Jeanelle leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Deborah Boyd Boone, Charlene Boyd, two grandchildren, Myka Boone and Torrey Holloway, and two great granddaughters, Allure Ward and Alaina Ward, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend our deepest and heartfelt gratitude to Karen Mornay, for the professional care that she provided our Mother until her demise. We will eternally be grateful to her.
