Jerome Scott Rodgers, fondly known as Jerry, was born July 20, 1955 in Austin, Texas.  He was the only child of the late Aaron and Rachel Rodgers.  He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

After his mother passed in 1980, Jerome moved from Washington, D.C. to Virginia to live with his dear aunt, Lorene Dutch, who was like a mother to him.

Jerome was previously employed in the food service industry and as a church sexton.  He also worked in custodial services for Davita Dialysis before he became disabled.

Jerome was a member of Providence Baptist Church for many years.  He served faithfully as a member of the Usher Ministry.

Jerome was a loving nephew, cousin, friend and neighbor who will be sincerely missed.

Left to cherish loving memories are his aunt, Lorene Dutch;  cousins, Ronald Dutch (Wanda), James Dutch, Dr. Monette Dutch Cobbs (Jon) and Allan Dutch (Tasmina), Thomas Dawes.  Also, special friends, Karen Edmonds and Gregory Raynor and other relatives and friends

Funeral service will held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Providence Baptist Church, 1331 - 30th Street, Newport News, VA.  There will be no public viewing.
