Obituary

John Thomas Coleman entered eternal rest, Thursday, April 16, 2020, at Riverside Rehabilitation Center at Hampton, Hampton, VA.  John Thomas was born, January 25, 1943, in Southampton County, Virginia to the Late John and Lottie Mae Holmes Coleman.

John Thomas Coleman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby Lee Holloway Coleman; sister, Alice Mae Coleman; brother, Paul Junious Edwards; and nephew Robert "Bobby" Burwell, Jr.

John Thomas was a dedicated employee at, among others, Luter's Meat Packing Company and the Boys and Girls Club: Greater Hampton Roads Unit, from which he retired after his health failed.

John Thomas is survived by his loving dedicated sister, Mildred Coleman of Wakefield, Virginia; stepdaughter, Louise E. Weeks of Windsor, Virginia; aunts, Ruby J. Holmes and Eleanor F. Hawkins of Wakefield, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a longtime friend, Bobby Stringfield of Wakefield, Virginia.

The Family of John Thomas Coleman is extremely grateful to key family members for the assistance and support they gave during his extended illness.  The never-failing support for and dedication to meeting John Thomas' personal and health care needs, shown by his cousin, James A. Holoman, shall always be remembered and honored with deep gratitude.  The moral, physical and emotional support of his niece, Lottie Coleman Jones and nephew, Larry Coleman has been deeply comforting and meaningful.

A private graveside service will be held in Ivor, VA.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
