Joyce Aytch Ashley, 70, passed away peacefully at home with family, whom she loved and cherished, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.  Joyce was born on January 9, 1955 to the late Henry E. Aytch and Jewel C. Aytch.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter (Ricky) Aytch and two sisters, Nia (Pearlie) Hassan and Betty J. Aytch.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Michael D. Ashley; three brother, David L. Aytch, Henry E. Aytch Jr. and Rodney L. Aytch; four sisters, Dana E. Aytch, Cotrenia R. Aytch, Vivian (Marie) Ibitayo, and Vanessa D. Hicks; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce attended Huntington High School in Newport News, Virginia, where she was part of the last sophomore class to attend the school, she graduated from Homer L. Ferguson High School in Newport News, Virginia.  She was also a graduate of Christopher Newport College where she received a BS in Business. She worked for 35 years with Truist Bank (formerly Crestar and Suntrust).  She was a faithful member of Rising Star Christian Church in Newport News, Virginia.  At her church, she served and held many positions, to include President of the Usher Board, Treasurer, Trustee, Deaconess and Sunday School Teacher.  Joyce was also the Assistant Advisor to the Tidewater Usher Board Conference. She was a member of the Last Sophomore Class of Huntington High School - Class of 1973.

Joyce will be greatly missed by many as she was a friend to many.

Viewing will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Rising Star Christian Church, 2512 Roanoke Avenue, Newport News, Virginia.  O. H.
