Kelley Lamar Bizzell passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton.
Kelley was born in Dayton , OH on March 6, 1964. He attended Patterson High School in Dayton, Ohio. After graduation, he decided to join the United States Army. He served twenty-three years . He started his career driving armored vehicles. Soon he began working in human resources. His last assignment was the United States Military Entrance Processing Station, Chicago, IL. He received an honorable discharge on October 1, 2004 as 1st Sergeant. In 2005, Kelley accepted a position to be the USAG Central Processing Facility Manager in Katterbach, Germany. Kelley continued his courier at Ft. Monroe and Ft. Eustis from 2009 until 2012 as HR Specialist, GS 13. Kelley medically retired again from Civil Service in February 2012.
After retiring, Kelley found great love and passion for golfing. One of his best buddies to golf with was Elister "Lou" Lewis. Kelley enjoyed his friendship with him and their many topics of conversations. Kelley also enjoyed his longtime friendship with Deametrious Bagwell, known as "Private Sleepy."
Kelley grew up with dogs and did not call himself a cat person. But Brigitte and the cats were a packaged deal. It did not take him long to grow quite fond of kitties.
He is preceeded in death by his mother, Maddie Bizzell; brothers, Eddie B. Bizzell and Jason C. Bizzell; and sister, Stephanie Jackson.
He is survived by the love of his life, Brigitte Akins; children, Nicole Nared-Washington (Al) of Dayton, OH, Brandon Bizzell of Berlin, Germany, and Annique Bizzell of Bamberg, Germany; grandson, Calvin Washington; father, Eddie Bizzell; step-mother, Cerelia Lee; brothers, Steffon Bizzell of Georgia and Dwight Bizzell of Wisconsin; and step-sister, Cerelia Bizzell of Dayton, OH.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 1-6 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to www.TheCatCornerInc.com in honor of Kelley Bizzell. His burial will take place at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
