Today we give praise to God for the life of Kelvin D. Parks. Kelvin, the oldest of two sons, born to Edgar L. Boone and Irish Parks Walden on November 17, 1974, departed this life on January 9, 2024 at Riverside Hospital in Newport News. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar L. Boone and grandmother, Doretha Lassiter.

Kelvin is a 1992 graduate of Hertford County High School, where he played on the high school football team. He was also a member of the school Drama Department, where he recited the "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the school Black History play.

Everyone knew Kelvin was a huge Washington Redskins and Commanders fan. (Lol for the names). He was a loving man with a warm smile. He loved everyone that crossed his path. Kelvin's famous words to his mother every night was, "I love you and there's nothing you can do about it." Kelvin was a member of Greater Bethlehem Christian Assembly where he was faithful in attendance and service.

Kelvin Parks leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Cheryl Parks; two daughters, Xynovia and Italia Parks, and mother, Irish Walden, all of Newport News; brother, Rodondo Parks of Colorado Springs Colorado; three nieces and one nephew; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.

Services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 10 AM at Greater Bethlehem Christian Assembly (360 Ivy Home Road, Hampton, Virginia) with Pastor Dr. (Uncle) Phillip E. Lucas, Officiating. Interment will be at Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton, Virginia.  Viewing will be from 12-3 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
